Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, removes the excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen region and tightens the muscle wall. The abdominal skin and underlying muscles often stretch significantly after childbirth. This procedure can dramatically improve the appearance of a protruding abdomen. When abdominoplasty is combined with breast surgery it’s called a “mommy makeover” and is very popular. Although the stomach shape and appearance can be enhanced, there will be a permanent scar, depending on the extent of needed surgery, might extend from hip to hip. Sometimes, patients have a small hernia around the belly button (umbilical hernia). This may also be corrected at the time of abdominoplasty.
